The information a family keeps in CareCircle is personal and sensitive — health details, medications, appointments, and the day-to-day of caring for someone. This note sets out, plainly, how we look after it and where it lives. We'd rather be clear about what we do and don't do than make promises we can't keep.
This is sensitive information
We treat everything in a circle as sensitive by default. It's never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared outside your circle. It exists for one purpose: to help the people in your circle care for your relative together.
Access is limited to your circle
Only members of a circle can see that circle's information. Every request is checked on our serversagainst your membership before any data is returned — access control isn't just something hidden in the interface. Each member also has a role (admin, caregiver, or viewer) that governs what they can change.
Where your data lives
Your circle's data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database (Neon) and served through Vercel's infrastructure. Connections are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Sign-in is handled separately by Clerk, so login credentials aren't held in our own database.
Times are stored in UTC
All dates and times are stored in UTC on the server and shown to you in your local time. That keeps the rota, the medication log, and appointments consistent no matter where each member of the circle is.
The document vault (coming later)
CareCircle today is the core care hub — rota, activity log, medications, and appointments. A secure document vault, for things like care plans and legal or medical paperwork, is planned but not yet built. When it arrives, uploaded documents will be encrypted at restand reachable only by members of the circle they belong to. We'll update this note the moment that feature ships, so what you read here always matches what actually exists.
Deleting data
You can ask us to delete a circle and everything in it at any time. For now, email privacy@ourcarecircle.com; self-service deletion is on the way. For more on your data and your choices, see our privacy policy.
